Bloomberg Lashes Out At New York Congressman

Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.) has asked the Justice Department to investigate the New York City Police Department over their handling of the Occupy Wall Street protests. Nadler's district includes Zuccotti Park and the financial district of New York City.
Mayor Michael Bloomberg on Thursday criticized Nadler and said he was wasting his time.
"If he would spend more time getting us homeland security money, maybe he'd make the streets safer," Bloomberg said at a press conference. "If he could get us more federal moneys, maybe we could make our schools better and we wouldn't have some of the things that people are protesting against."
Nadler responded, via a comment to Capital New York, that it's Nadler's and the DOJ's duty to investigate claims of constitutional violations.
"Perhaps the Mayor should review his own past comments lauding my success in securing needed federal funds for our city – from the $20 billion post-9/11 monies to the Zadroga Act to critical transportation funding – before spewing nonsense and so wildly contradicting himself," Nadler stated.
